Home of William Morris, artist, craftsman and philosopher
  • Home of the Arts & Crafts Movement – the only house commissioned and created by William Morris
  • Original features and fixed items of furniture designed by Morris and his friend, Red House architect Philip Webb
  • Outstanding wall paintings and stained glass by Edward Burne-Jones
  • Delightful garden designed by Morris to 'clothe' the house
  • Small tea-room and gift shop with wide range of William Morris-related gifts and books
  • As featured on Antiques TV
Points to noteThe property was lived in as a family home for nearly 150 years, during which time many changes took place. The Trust opened Red House soon after its acquisition in 2003 so that visitors could see the property as it was when first acquired, and follow its journey as research reveals the house and garden which Morris and Webb originally created.
